Why precisely Genesis?

You might ask yourself: "How can someone be so obsessed with Genesis?"
Well, that's not easy to say. There are two things I have to mention: I started with listening electronic music at the age of thirteen. I particularly liked German synth-oldies "Tangerine Dream", Frenchman "Jean Michel Jarre" and "Vangelis": and I still do. But my musical taste changed when I first listened to "Ultra" by "Depeche Mode". As a result I inclined step by step to the kind of music called electronic pop. And that's the sort of music which also Genesis belong to.
In February 1998 I discovered an album called "Invisible Touch" in a music store. This was my first contact with Genesis and should become an incisive experience of mine. Although I didn't know them I bought the record 'cause I had heared a lot about Genesis. I found that their music sounds fantastic. I love Phil Collins' voice: it sounds shrill but at the same time it's very melodic. It's a shame that he left the band, but the band found a new frontman in Ray Wilson. The other members of the band - Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford - are brilliant artists as well, but they stay modestly in the background in order to avoid exaggerated media attention. Genesis' music critizises the weaknesses of our society and in their lyrics they cover a variety of arguments, from poverty to the spoils of war, from our daily madness to the deepest human fears. And that's the second reason why I admire Genesis. Because their music gave me a message that helps me to understand the complicate mechanisms of life.
I've been collecting all Genesis albums published in the late '70ies, in the '80ies and in the '90ies. This site is meant to be a haven for people like me who consider Genesis one of the best bands ever. Now I'd like to give you a little insight into what you find on this page.
